چکیده

Data-oriented coordination languages rely on a shared space in which agents add, read and retrieve data. They are intuitively well suited for distributed transportation applications, where different actors evolve in a highly dynamic and very constrained environment. However, existing coordination languages can hardly be used for transportation applications, because they cannot express agents complex interaction needs. Indeed, in transportation applications, the interaction needs of the agents are driven by their current context and by ambient conditions, expressed in the form of constraints on the values taken by variables. In this paper, we propose Lacios, a new data-oriented coordination language for designing and implementing distributed transportation applications, and we illustrate our proposal with two examples: a traveler information system and a demand-responsive transport system. Lacios allows agents to express complex interaction needs, including agents states, system objects values, operators and functions, and is grounded on a model where the multi-agent system design is centered on the environment.

Using Scoping Rules as a Distributed Coordination Language

Keywords: coordination languages, Scheme, distributed systems, lexical scoping, distributed objects. Essential to coordinating a distributed application is organizing and traversing the distributed application graph. Lexical scoping performs this function among modern high-level programming languages, but does not have the same distinction in distributed programming systems, where it competes w...

Coordinating Object Oriented Components Using Data-Flow Networks

We propose a framework for component-based modeling of distributed systems. It provides separation of concerns between computation (in object oriented components), coordination (via connectors) and dynamic reconfiguration (by the network manager). This framework builds upon the object oriented modeling language Creol for modeling the components, and uses the ideas of Reo for exogenous coordinat...

Redesigning the Web: from passive pages to coordinated agents in PageSpaces

Currently, Web does not support distributed applications well. Existing approaches are oriented towards centralized applications at servers, or local programs within clients. To overcome this deficit, the PageSpace platform was designed for distributed, coordinated agents in the Web. We take a specific approach to coordinate agents in PageSpace applications, namely variants of coordination lang...

Towards an Agent-Oriented Modeling and Evaluation Approach For Vehicular Systems Security

Agent technology is a software paradigm that permits to implement large and complex distributed applications. In order to assist the development of multi-agent systems, agent-oriented methodologies (AOM) have been created in the last years to support modeling more and more complex applications in many different domains. By defining in a non-ambiguous way concepts used in a specific domain, Meta...

A Real Object-Oriented Visual Design Language for Distributed Software Systems

State-of-the-art object-oriented analysis and design combined with techniques handling concurrency and distribution on the design level ease the development of distributed systems. A novel approach and language for the visual design of distributed software systems is introduced and illustrated by means of an example. The language of OCoNs (Object Coordination Nets) integrates the structuring me...
